Eco Homo - "Behold the Man" John 19:5

We went to the area of the Antonion Fortress where Pilates troops would have been stationed and more than likely the place where he resided. This would have been the place of Jesus trial before Pilate.

Matthew 27:22-24 "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"
[23] "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"
[24] When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"

Is Pilate one of the villains in this story or just an innocent by-stander that was caught up in the action? There is no doubt he is a villain. Lacking spine … bowing to peer pressure … washing his hands and justifying his actions … Does this sound like anyone you know? … perhaps better than anyone? Yes, I am talking about YOU and I am talking about ME!! We also are guilty of this man’s blood. It was for our sins that the King of Heaven suffered such horrifying abuse and mockery. “Eco Homo” … behold the man – our dearest friend - who stepped between us and the justice of our Holy God and took our punishment for lacking spine … bowing to peer pressure … washing our hands of situations and justifying our actions and every other sins we ever have or ever will commit. “Thousand, thousand, thanks shall be – dearest Jesus unto Thee!!!
