The Judean Dessert and the Negev.

Judean dessert with all its barrenness is a precious place for the devout children of Abraham. People go into the dessert to be with God. John went into the dessert to preach and to baptize those who repented and pronounce over them a new cleansed life of walking with God. Jesus went into the dessert immediately after His baptism and initiation into three years of intense ministry – He fasted for 40 days and was tested by Satan and glorified God by resisting the Devil. In the dessert God shaped his people who had been delivered from Israel for 40 years. Moses wrote in Deut. 8:2-5 “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. [3] He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. [4] Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. [5] Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.” In the dessert God tests you and he provides for you. In the dessert of testing is often the sweetest communion with our glorious Lord for His hand of provision and love is more clearly seen than at any other time in our lives. The next time you are in the dessert relax into his loving arms. Know he is present to provide to love and to strengthen you for your time in the promised land of his GRACIOUS provision…. WHERE ARE YOU NOW???
